ASUS Announces A7N266 NVIDIA nForce Based Motherboard
First integrated motherboard for the performance market
Taipei, Taiwan, Jun 04, 2001 - ASUS, the world's leading technology solution manufacturer, today announced their latest motherboard, the A7N266. The A7N266 Socket A DDR motherboard supports 200HZ or 266MHz AMD Athlon/Duron processors, and incorporates NVIDIA's nForce platform architecture with advanced integrated features for high-performance systems. The A7N266 delivers exceptional value and is the first integrated motherboard with enhanced performance features to satisfy the performance segment.
The A7N266 delivers high-end performance while reducing system costs by negating the need for external graphics and soundcards. High-end 3D graphics performance is delivered via an enhanced NVIDIA GeForce2 graphics core. By implementing onboard the same graphics core found on market-leading GeForce2 AGP graphics cards, the A7N266 provides exceptional performance while lowering overall system costs. 3D audio is achieved with an integrated audio processing unit (APU) that supports 5.1 Dolby Digital as well as 6-channel audio. Graphics and sound may also be upgraded via an AGP Pro slot or PCI slots. In addition, an optional integrated LAN/ Ethernet controller facilitates compelling online gaming and cost-effective networking.
The A7N266 with its 128-bit DDR memory architecture also features one of the fastest system buses available. System bottlenecks are eliminated with balanced architecture and peak bandwidths up to 4.2 GB/s. With 3 DIMMS and up to 1.5GB support of PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM, the A7N266 motherboard is a highly scalable platform capable of powering through today's most demanding games and applications.
