Athlon 64 til bærbare computere understøtter PC2700 DDR-SDRAM, og har med HyperTransport en FSB hastighed på 6,4 GB/s. Begge af varianter Athlon 64 til bærbare computere understøtter AMDs PowerNow! teknologi. Prisen for en 3000+ er US$ 217, som dermed gør den til den billigste Athlon 64 processor, en 3200+ koster US$ 417, som er det samme som desktop-varianten.

For mainstream desktop users, AMD unveiled the long-awaited AMD Athlon 64 processor, bringing the benefits of AMD64 technology to desktop and notebook users and delivering unprecedented application performance for consumers and businesses. The AMD Athlon 64 processor provides extraordinary 32-bit software application performance while allowing a simplified migration path to 64-bit applications.

Industry Embraces 64-Bit Computing Vision
Microsoft, which today announced the release of a beta version of Windows XP 64-Bit Edition, joined AMD to articulate its vision for 64-bit computing and reiterate its commitment to deliver a 64-bit operating system for desktop systems.

Computer manufacturer HP plans to ship systems in the fourth quarter of 2003. Fujitsu, Fujitsu-Siemens and Packard Bell announced system availability for the AMD Athlon 64 processor, and were joined by more than 150 manufacturers and infrastructure partners worldwide.

PC retailer Best Buy will sell AMD Athlon 64 processor-based systems in addition to the ?processor-in-a-box? product.
