AMD arbejder på Dual-Core

Ifølge ZDNet UK arbejder AMD på en Dual-Core version af Athlon 64. Den vil dog tidligst blive en realitet når AMD skifter til 90 nm teknologi, hvilket sker i starten af det nye år. Det er dog mest realistisk at vi ser en Dual-Core AMD processor i slutningen af år 2005, og det har dermed lange tidshorisonter.
"As the die size shrinks, there are several possibilities," said Siegel. "Large caches are one thing we are always looking at, and dual cores also become a possibility. At some point in the evolutionary cycle, there comes a limit to how far you can improve performance with a single core on a chip. We will see dual core 64-bit processors in the 90mn process."
