AMDZone har taget et kig på AMDs nyeste Opteron 248, som jo kører med 2.2 GHz.

Now are these CPUs available? The Opteron 248 is listed for as low as $1,015 which currently is $100 over AMD's list price. The 148 is available for as low as $820 which again is about $100 more than the list. We could not find the 848 listed for sale.

So in conclusion AMD has released an expected speed grade update to the Opteron line to match the Athlon 64 FX51 in MHz, and allow for SMP configurations up to 8P. Now we wait for an Athlon 64 3400+ and the Athlon 64 FX53 which could possibly come before years end. Will these new CPUs help AMD return to profitability for this quarter? Stay tuned.
