Connectivity Within Reach
Introducing Gigabyte?s New Stylish ?Expand Box?
Taipei, Taiwan February 2004- Gigabyte Technology introduces its ?Expand Box?- a sleek and compact device that offers users easily accessible connectivity. The Gigabyte Expand Box moves your IEEE 1394 (FireWire), USB 2.0, and audio ports right where you need them- at the front of the computer!
Install and Play
The Gigabyte Expand Box provides easy access to traditionally rear-mounted ports such as USB, FireWire, and audio jacks and combines them all into one single unit. The device can be easily inserted into any 3.5-inch external drive bay and secured using included screws. Installation of the Expand Box is straightforward and requires only its internal IEEE 1394, USB 2.0 and audio ports to be connected to the respective headers on the motherboard. There is no requirement for software drivers- just plug and play! With the Gigabyte Expand Box, users also no longer need to become frustrated with the difficulty of locating hard to reach ports and connectors behind your computer. Fewer connected peripherals also mean fewer tangled cables at the back of your computer to allow you to move your PC with ease!
Convenient High-Speed Connectivity
The Gigabyte Expand Box includes 2 USB 2.0 ports, 2 IEEE 1394 (FireWire) ports and 2 audio (Line-In/Line-Out) jacks. The USB ports provide easy front connection of USB devices such as web cameras, digital cameras, MP3 players, printers, along with many other USB-based peripherals. The USB 2.0 ports also allow for connection of high-speed USB devices such as external hard disk drives and DVD-RW?s.
For flexibility in connection of FireWire devices, the Expand Box has one 6-pin IEEE 1394 connector and one 4-pin IEEE 1394 (iLINK connector). The 4-pin connector is more common on digital video camcorders and other small external devices because of its small size, while the 6-pin connector is more common on PC's, CDRW's, external hard drives, and digital audio workstations due to it's durability and support for external power for 1394 peripherals.
As for the audio ports, the audio line-in offers connection of audio sources such as a microphone while the audio line-out connects speakers, earphones and other audio output devices for instant multimedia.
The Gigabyte Expand Box is a sleek and convenient device that makes hard to reach ports a thing of the past- connect and remove your peripherals and devices in a snap!
