AMD has launched new AMD AthlonTM XP processor in the early of October 2001. In order to ensure Gigabyte users keep pace with trends, a series of rigorous tests have been done towards the currently available Gigabyte motherboards to make sure all the motherboards will support new AthlonTM XP processor successfully. Gigabyte is now proud to announce that all of the Gigabyte currently available Socket A FSB 266MHz motherboards are capable to support new AMD AthlonTM XP processor. In the meantime, all the corresponding new released BIOS are available on website for users free download, ensured the BIOS detects the processor PR rating correctly.
After Gigabyte K7 series motherboards experienced a series of rigorous tests, the following models such as GA-7DXR, GA-7DX, GA-7VTX, GA-7VTX-P, GA-7VTXH, GA-7VTXE, GA-7ZXR/7ZXR-C(3.0), GA-7ZXC, GA-7ZX-H and GA-7ZMMH have been validated with the capability to support AMD AthlonTM XP processor (included AMD newly released 1500+_A1600+_A1700+_A1800+).
In addition, due to the new processor rating system for AMD AthlonTM XP processor, an upgraded BIOS is required in order to show the AthlonTM XP processor PR rating correctly. The following table listed the K7 motherboard models with corresponding BIOS version to support AthlonTM XP processor.
