AMD har i dag annonceret en ny variant af deres Athlon 64 processor. Mobile Athlon 64 kommer i tre versioner, 2800+, 3000+ og 3200+. Fælles for de nye Mobile Athlon 64 er at de sænker strømforbruget med 25 % i forhold til tidligere Athlon 64 modeller til de bærbare computere. Samtidig understøtter de PowerNow! teknologien, som forlænger batterilevetiden ved hele tiden at justere processorens hastighed efter forbruget. En typisk bærbar computer baseret på en Mobile Athlon 64 processor vil kunne klare cirka 3 timer på batteriet, selvfølgelig afhængig af batteritypen. Prisen for en Mobile Athlon 64 2800+ er US$ 193, en 3000+ koster US$ 233, mens en 3200+ koster US$ 293.

The Next Step in Performance for Desktops and Desktop-Replacement Notebooks
AMD also announced the AMD Athlon 64 processor 3400+ for desktop PCs and desktop-replacement notebooks. The processor will be supported by HP?s configure-to-order desktop PC line in early 2004. The AMD Athlon 64 processor 3200+ began appearing in configure-to-order Compaq Presario 8000Z desktop PCs in November and as an option in configure-to-order HP Pavilion a450e desktop PCs in December. Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Fujitsu Ltd. will have desktop systems available immediately.
