Test af Intel Celeron "Prescott" 2.4 GHz

Hidtil har Intels nye "Prescott" kerne ikke gjort ret meget andet end at skuffe fælt. Men den nuværende Celeron kan næsten ikke blive dårligere, og derfor er det også glædeligt at se testen på den franske hjemmeside X86-Secret. Den nye Celeron A har nemlig en dobbelt så stor cache som forgængeren, hvilket vil sige 256 KB L2 cache istedet for 128 KB. Samtidig er bushastigheden hævet fra 400 til 533 MHz og disse to ting hæver ydelsen til et niveau, som ikke er langt fra en almindelig Pentium 4B med samme clockfrekvens. Desværre er temperaturen også kommet et godt stykke opad, så den nye Celeron ligger lidt under 50 grader i "idle" mode. X86-Secret ender da også med en kendt konklusion, Celeron er uinteressant i forhold til Athlon XP.
