The Concept of AMD Eyefinity:

AMD Eyefinity is a graphic solution from AMD, that defines the usage of two or more monitors at the same time - like single monitors or on big monitor. Eyefinity gives you the opportunity to get up to 24 monitors for one single computer. But you need 4 Eyefinity graphic cards like the one we have here and a lot of high hardware inside your computer. It is possible, but quite expensive.

So you can actually customize the setup completely as you like and need. Until now you only had the possibility to use dual screen or up to 8 monitors by using one af the older graphics card from ATIs professional graphics card line. Normally it was only the stockbrokers and technically installations that needed the opportunity to create an overview.

Professional Unix-based workstations with 3 or more monitors have been seen since the start of the 90's. Sun Microsystems and SGI systems was used for 3D modelling of oil platforms, film production, 3D-design for engineers and geneticists. The company here was Matrox - for a long time they had a near monopoly on the marked of Multi-Screen solutions. AMD Eyefinity is a redevelopment of those old systems, but today you will get the 3D performance as well.

A few examples of the type of Eyefinity, we often see:

A regular solution for gaming, movies and other kind of entertainment:

A setup for graphic artists, photographers, game designers, 3D workers, electronic tools etc.:

Normally you will make the lowest 3 monitors as one big panorama screen and the top one for extra stuff. If you are a gamer, you that plays CounterStrike, you can game on the panorama screen while having the scoreboard of the tournament on the top one. Or if you play 2 vs. 2, you might be able to get the same screen output on the top one as your teammate, so you can make backup easier.

A bigger setup for different purposes:

The gamer would normally make one big screen out of the six monitors, but you can also have six different screens, if you are suppose to control something or have an overview.

This setup is not common for privacy because of the price. Today you can get fine monitors for approx 1,000 DKK, so you do have the chance to achieve a setup like this. You can always start with the 3 monitor setup and expand later if needed. You can get 3 monitors at the same price as a huge graphics card. Why not exploit it?
