Hunting for MHz.

Test setup:

Motherboard: Asus N4L-vm dh (MoDT)
CPU: Core 2 Duo T7200 (SL9SF Merom) 2000MHz; Multiplier 12; 166 FSB.
RAM: G.Skill PC8000
Pin mod. (wire): AE3->AF3 (VID[4]->VSS) => 1.4V core (this pinmod only effects full speed. No raise in vcore by medium or low speed).

Limits:
178 FSB => Boot OK
182 FSB => Warm boot OK
183 FSB => No boot

Now the "funny" stuff.

Pin mod. (wire): B23->A23 (BSEL [1]->VSS) => Std. FSB = 133
Limits:
139 FSB => Boot OK
150 FSB => Warm boot OK
151 FSB => No boot

How can it bee that the FSB is even more limited when running a lower std.-FSB ???
What is limiting the 945GM chipset ???

I know that other motherboard manufactures had/has some issues with the ICS 954552 clock generator. Has ASUS ???

I have tried all "BSEL" H/L-combinations and only the 166 and the 133 will be accepted by the chipset and boot.
But none of the combinations made the motherboard beep "CPU failure".
Maybe a new BIOS is all it takes to boot 200 FSB (and a pin mod.).
