A football player's narrative
In a small American city near Miami in age 1959 a young man called James Brothan lived. James was a 18 years old young man with a dad from England, and a mum from USA. He had one big dream. He wanted to be a proffesional football player. James had 3 good friends, John, Smith and Bryan. They were together almost everyday, and played football. They played on the local team called FC Lions.
James were keeper, John were midfield, Smith were forward and Bryan were defender. In this season they've so far won 7 out of 9 played matches, and were number 2.
"There is one week to the big and final match against FC Miami", James said to the guys.
"Yes we know, and its gonna be the biggest match in our lives, and we have to win", they replied. Maybe there is comming an agent from England and watch us. Let's hope so, then my dream maybe will come true, "James said. They trained hard all day long for the next 6 days until the day came, where they should play against FC Miami. James were exciting, because the agent from England came. There were two reasons to play good, the agent were there, and if they could win over FC Miami, they'll win the championship.
In first half FC Miami were close to score three or four times, but James did very well, and 2 minutes before half time Smith scored. The agent notified Smith's goal, but he also notified James excellent keeping. In second half the teams played really bad, but with 6 minutes left Bryan kicked a player from FC Miami down in their own penalty area. The referee pointed at the spot, there were penalty kick. The guy, who should take the penalty kick were Mick Lossan.
Mick Lossan had scored every match this year and he were the most sure penalty kicker in the league. He ran into the ball and shoot. James jumped very high and caught the ball in the corner. FC Lions were new champions, and James had to lift the trophy with big ears, because he was captain.
After the presentation there were a big party, that took many hours.
In the morning next day, the telephone called. It was the agent from England, he said, that he would like, if James would come to England, and train with Manchester United for a few weeks, so he could se, if James had the talent to play for their best team. James were suprised, and ofcause he would come. Next thuesday James took a plain to England, where the agent should meet him in the airport. James did very well in Manchester, and they wanted to keep him on a 4 years contract.
Now a new life started for James, and he trained hours after the official training to get better. When they didnt train in Manchester, he worked in a fashion shop. In the fashion shop, where James worked they sold hippie t-shirts, jeans, sweatshirts and many other things, so ofcause James had all the new close in the time, where he worked there. In 2 years he did the same every week. He trained, worked and played matches, but a day after training their trainer Barley said to James, that he would make him keeper on the best team in Manchester, if he promised to keep train very hard, and ofcause James promised that.
Now James could stop working in the fashion shop, because he played for the best team, and maked hundred thousands.
In 1663 a very big thing happended to James career. The trainer had much trusting to James, and said James would be a great captain. With James Brothan as captain Manchester United won the English championship, and kvalified to the Uefa cup. In their first Uefa cup match against FC Bayern München they won 2-0. After 6 won matches they should play semifinal against last years champions Real Madrid. In first half Real Madrid scored to 1-0 after 37 minutes played. In second half Bobby More scored 3 goals, and Manchester won with 3-1. Now the world could see, that manchester were a great team, with good players all over.
7days remaining to the biggest match in Manchester's history was the head line in the English magazine called Forca sports.
James and his team mates only had 10 trainings in those 7 days, to save their energy to the final against FC Barcelona themselves. The day came, and James and His team mates were nervous, what if we win?, Bobby said to James. Then i'll go on a holiday, James said. After a short warm up the coatch called them down in the locker room to talk tactics. The tactic were to hold Barcelona away from goal, and think good over each attack. The match started and after few minutes Manchester's very own Phillip Johnathan scored to the score 1-0 in Manchester's favour, but 2 minutes before half time Barcelona's Juanes Kapilla equalized. In second half both teams fought about the middle, but with 13 minutes left Bobby More was kicked down in the penalty area, and the referee pointed at the spot, there were penalty. Manchester's coatch pointed at James. You take it, he shouted. With sweat on his forehead James run into the ball and shot, He scored! Manchester had won their first Uefa championship, and James scored the last goal, and became "man of the match".
After some years, with big succes as keeper James were headhunted to the English national team in 1966, because their normal keeper Peter Hilton was injured.
There were big expectations to James. England were host for the world cup in this year, and did very well in the first 3 matches, where they won over Denmark, Spain and Sweden, and James only let one goal in. In their 4 match Italy were the opponent, and in first half Lutusso scored on free kick to 1-0 in Italy's favour. In second half England were excellent, and beat Italy 2-1. Now England were in the semifinal, where they should meet Argentina.
Argentina were one of the greatest national teams in the world, and were ofcause favorites. But England did the impossible, and beat them with consummate skill. In the final Portugal waited, and in the first half of the final the portuguese Christiano Lopardo scored to 3-1 with a amazing goal in the corner, but England didn't give up, and in second half they played excellent, and won 2-1.
James was nominated to "Best keeper of the world cup" and got a million pound check of FIFA themselves.
For the next 3 years James was permanent first keeper in Manchester United, and on the English national team. He won many titles with Manchester, and was nominated to best keeper in the world 3 times, but in the end of 1969 James had a really bad injury in his left arm, and had to stop playing football.
In 3 months James was away from the real world, inside himself, and didn't talk with anybody. That change, when he met Juliet in June 1970.
In September 1970 James married a woman called Juliet Viduka, it was a big wedding, with many guests. James and Juliet had 3 children called Mark, Charly and David. Now James is an 65 years old pensionist, but he's still interested in football, and his son Mark is now known as Mark Viduka. Mark is forward for Leeds United.

THE TEAM FROM Argentina (hedder landet det på Engelsk?) WAS AMONG THE BEST national teams in the world and was OF COURSE(?) favoUrites. But THE ENGLISH TEAM DID WHAT MANY THOUGHT WAS impossible and beat (Datid?) them with consummate skill = betyder?. .

Så kan du selv lige tænke lidt over, om det hedder "were" eller "was", når vi snakker 3. person ental datid.
