"...be very careful if you attempt soldering. The hot soldering iron can create thermal shock which creates cracks in the lands or adjacent components due to different expansion coeficients. When the circuit board is manufactured it is pre-heated gradually before wave soldering to avoid these thermal shock issues. Most manufacturers will toss the board if if fails end testing since rework can create latent issues that may not show up until sometime later with the end customer. The microscopic cracks I mentioned may create intermittant problems or total failure, depending upon the specific situation. Your best bet is to get a new board if under warranty."
