Hello

I bought a 3TB WD - The disc is on the compatibility list of approved devices, but should I do edit the software for the disk will run as it should, and I can see all 3TB at once - on my desktop, I had to to install a program so that it could see all 3 TB at once - and not make 2 partitions with 2TB and remaining 800GB.

Just making backup of the disk i need to change, for the BIG disk 😉 - and i would like to be a little more prepared.

Sorry for intruding.

I have read your post several times and im not sure that i fully understand what you are asking.

If you are asking if anything needs to be done to get a 3 TB WD harddrive working in a Synology NAS, then the answer is no. Just plug it in and you are good to go. I have an 1511+, running latest DSM software, with four 3 TB WD harddrives, that is working like a charm.

Sorry for not updating my post..

I thought there might be needed something done with the Green version, by WD - something protecting the disk from all of the stop/start cycles. I don't know if that is a real problem any more - or just something I should skip.

The disk is running now, without any start-up problems - very nice.

I know that the old model (2 tb version) wd20ears had some issues .. but as far as i remember, those harddrives were not officially supported by synology to be used with an NAS.

anyways, for as long as the new drives work, all is good :)
