Test: Foxconn MARS - UK

With the Mars motherboard comes a small monitoring utility names AEGIS. Where I come from AEGIS is an integrated weapons system designed to give naval vessels full tactical overview of the battlefield. Whether or not Foxconns version is as effective I will let the user decide.

All the interesting parameters are included, ie. clockfrequency, temperatures and voltages, but I honestly think the presentation could be better. You have to move your eyes around too much on the GUI for it to be satisfactory. The three wings on the sides and the bottom is normally folded in, leaving only the frequency visible.

It would have been a more effective design, had they moved cpu Vcore and temperature reading inside the centerdisplay as well. Now you have to fold out the wings to get the information.

A shame really that the overclocking community was not asked for advice, knowing we have both the DFI guys and OC-guru Shamino working this project. What overclockers need is a small utility to monitor the clockfrequency, keep an eye on the temperature and the stability of the voltages during heavy system load. The AEGIS program will do that, and as such passes the test. But I think it takes up too much space on the desktop, and it looks confusing having the cpu frequency with huge numbers in the center, and all other info on each side of the display in small numbers.
