AMD Klar Med Polaris Arkitekturen
AMD vil via deres Radeon Technologies Group, ved CES messen i Las Vegas, fremvise deres nyeste arkitektur for Radeon GPUer, kodenavn Polaris.
At the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show, AMD’s Radeon Technologies Group will preview its new Polaris architecture for 2016 Radeon GPUs, which delivers exceptional gaming experiences at 61 percent less power than competing GPUs. This dramatic performance per watt efficiency opens the door to unprecedented gaming and multimedia experiences in thin and light notebooks and desktop gaming PCs.
Designed and optimized for the 14nm FinFET process, the Polaris architecture boasts the largest generational jump in performance per watt in the history of AMD GPUs. The new architecture features AMD’s 4th generation Graphics Core Next architecture, a next-generation display engine with support for HDMI 2.0a and DisplayPort 1.3, and next-generation multimedia features enabling 4K h.265 encoding and decoding.
Even at this early stage, Polaris GPU hardware is dominating the competition and exhibiting the architecture’s potential. In a Star Wars: Battlefront head-to-head demo at 1080p, medium settings at 60 FPS, the Polaris GPU uses only 86 Watts, 61 percent less than the 140 Watts needed for the same experience on the GTX 950.
The first GPUs based on the Polaris architecture will ship in mid-2016.
