Synology DiskStation DS216+

Synology har sendt en ny NAS på markedet. Den har plads til 2 drev og har gode skrive og læsehastigheder, også selvom der skal krypteres undervejs. Således kommer den op over 110 MB/sek ibåde med læs og skriv. Har man hang til at lægge hele sin blueray samling over på en NAS og vil man gerne se filmene mens man er på farten, så giver den nye NAS mulighed for H.264 4K til 1080p video transcoding "on-the-fly". Den er udstyret med en Intel Celeron® N3050 processor og krypteringen er Intel AES-NI. Den er udstyret med det meget intuitive DiskStation Manager (DSM), som undertegnede personligt synes meget godt om. Milton Keynes, United Kingdom - 28th January 2016—Synology® Inc. today launched the DiskStation DS216+, a high-performance 2-bay NAS server aimed at home and small office users who want an efficient and secure storage solution to protect and share data as well as enjoy on-the-fly video transcoding.

Equipped with an Intel® Celeron® Processor N3050 with Intel® AES New Instructions (Intel® AES-NI) encryption, DS216+ delivers high-speed performance, exceeding 111 MB/s reading and writing, while ensuring encrypted data transmissions at over 113 MB/s reading and 109 MB/s writing. In addition, DS216+ can perform on-the-fly H.264 4K to 1080p video transcoding, making it possible for high definition enthusiasts to stream to their multimedia files, regardless of bandwidth or device potential limitations.

By implementing Btrfs file system, DS216+ offers advanced data protection by enabling point-in-time snapshot and restore, built-in data integrity checks, metadata mirroring, as well as quota control for shared folders (in addition to existing quotas for user accounts). DS216+ also comes with tool-less drive tray design with hot-swappable support, and thoughtful front LED controls, allowing users to adjust LED brightness according to desired schedule settings. 

DS216+ runs DiskStation Manager (DSM), the most advanced and intuitive operating system for NAS devices. Featuring a wide range of applications from backup, network management to multimedia, DS216+ provides all essential services and increased productivity at work. Hmm sidder over overvejer om jeg skal skifte min 411'er, men jeg kan ikke rigtig se hvordan 2 diske kan give plads nok. 😛

Venter nok på 416+ 🙂

Hvis jeg skulle spendere omkring de 2k som den her fætter sikkert koster så vil jeg gå efter qnap 251+ istedet. Quad core, hdmi mm. og software-understøttelse af plex, hvilket synology ikke har. Qnap's software er lige så brugervenligt og du kan køre virtuel server på den. 🙂

#4 Til de priser? Så kan det vist bedre betale sig at smide 4x4Tb i en lidt dyrere 4xx serie Synology. 🙂

#6 Man skal bare være opmærksom på at "Play" udgaverne af Synology har en hardware decode chip til live transcode af video filer så simple klienter kan afspille over DLNA osv. MEN denne hardware decode chip understøtter Plex Media Server IKKE, og så er den CPU der sidder i "Play" modellerne af Synology ikke kraftige nok til live transcode.
