Konklusion
64GB Kingston V-series G2 SSD brugt her i testen kostede ca 950,- kr så alt i alt 1229,- kr for Silverstone HDD Boost + SSD.

hereUK summary
After having used the Silverstone HDD Boost SSD for longer period I will not let it go. You can discuss whether or not if it is an innovative piece of equipment Silverstone has delivered, but in my point of view Silverstone managed to find a simple yet effective solution to a problem a lot of other manufacturers have struggled solving with limited success. It is such a clever design that will boost performance in any system.
However this solution my primarily be for people who insist on keeping their current operating system (OS) installation with programs and games without the need of having to start all over. You get the fast read and random I/O times because the HDD with OS gets cloned onto the SSD. This combined with a large storage capability provided by the HDD. The HDD gets cloned/mirrored onto the SSD under each boot and it happens at lightning speeds. There is no data loss and one can always disable HDD Boost. The largest ‘drawback’ with the HDD Boost is that you cannot check the SMART status of the hard drive when used.
If building a new PC system most people would probably just purchase a SSD an install the OS on it directly, and the us a conventional hard drive for storage.
Nevertheless your money is never wasted with a Silverstone HDD Boost SSD, because one can always reuse the SSD upon starting all over with installation, or
one can choose to keep the HDD Boost SSD attached to the storage drive to get even better storage performance.
Innovation/Technology - 5
So simple and clever it almost hurts. Silverstone has managed to deliver the “glue” to combine the best of worlds with the SSD and HDD drive so they can work together flawlessly.
Bundle/Accessories - 2
It is a pretty dull box and the bundle only has what is needed to get the HDD Boost up and running. I would have liked to see a Utility CD and a case-bagde.
Design/Layout - 5
Super simple design that does what it is ment to do. You can install the product in any case with outmost ease – this is user friendliness of highest calibre.
Software/BIOS - 2
The software you can download at Silverstones website is super simple but also a bit lacklustre since they only functionality is running the synchronization between the SSD and HDD. It would have been nice with some monitoring options.
Performance - 5
The performance is primarily determined by the used SSD place into the HD Boost tray, but Silverstones product shows us that it by no means acts as a bottleneck between the drives. You get near the full read and Random I/O performance of the SSD
Price - 5
The Silverstone HDD Boost SSD unit alone costs approx. 279,- Dkk, however to get the full use of the product you need a SSD as well. A 64GB Kingston V-series G2 SSD used in this test costs approx. 950,- Dkk, that means a total cost of 1229,- Dkk for HDD Boost and SSD drive.
This is the price you pay for keeping your data without the need of reinstalling your entire operation system along with games and programs, and still enjoy the read/random I/O performance of a SSD drive AND without needing to worry about drive space.
All in all I think it is worth the costs if you are not a person who likes to format your drives every month or so.
