Fire-vejs optimering sørger for at give ydelse når der er brug for det - ved optimal blæserhastighed og til så stor strømbesparelse som muligt.

ASUS har desuden smidt deres EPU-chip på Z87-WS. Denne chip hjælper med at skrue ned for spænding og hastighed, når der ikke er brug for de voldsomme kræfter. For at spare på strømmen kan chippen oven i købet lukke ned for USB-porte, som ikke bliver brugt.

En gammel kending fra ASUS, men stadig en dejlig funktion at have: Først er der Q-Connectoren, der gør det nemt at få tilsluttet kabinettets LED og knapper til bundkortet. Det nederste foto har ikke relevans for dette bundkort.

USB-flashback giver mulighed for at installere en anden BIOS uden hukommelse eller processor monteret.

Det næste store spring inden for skærme bliver jo uden tvivl Ultra HD 4K og dette bundkort er helt med fremme og er forberedt for teknologien og understøtter UHD 4K via HDMI og Displayport i en opløsning på 4096 x 2160.

DirectKey er en smart funktion som bevirker at du bliver smidt direkte til bios indstillingerne f.eks. fra Windows(maskinen lukker ned og genstarter). Du kan med denne funktion gå direkte i BIOS og det er jo praktisk ved hyppig brug af BIOS indstillinger. Nogen vil jo så nok tænke hvordan fungerer det i et lukket kabinet? Der kan man jo ikke lige komme til knappen. Det har Asus løst ved at man kan flytte sin reset knaps ledning over på det stik der på bundkortet er mærket DRCT. Herefter resulterer et tryk på reset i at man går direkte til BIOS og det er faktisk ret smart.
