Bundkortet har fået hele 2 Thunderbolt porte, og disse er version 2 af portene der giver dobbelt så høj hastighed i forhold til version 1.
Bundkortet har fået en lille lyn knap sammen med resten af OC knapperne. Denne knap hedder OC ignition. Når denne knap trykkes ind, starter hele systemet med undtagelse af CPU. CPU starter først når der trykkes på start knappen. Med denne knap har man altså mulighed for at holde hele systemet, såsom blæsere eller grafikkort, kørende.
Turbo knappen smider CPU frekvensen hele vejen op til 4,2 GHz, hvorefter OC Touch kan bruges. OC Touch fungerer på samme måde som på Z77X-UP7. Trykkes der på "gear" knappen, vil denne lyse, og man kan nu justerer BCLK ned til 0,1 MHz. Er "gear" knappen ikke trykket ned, hæver man BCLK med 1 MHz ad gangen. OC Tag knappen kan holde et gemt profil i BIOS'en. Når denne trykkes ned, vil det næste BOOT blive gjort med profilens indstillinger. Hvis den ikke er trykket ned, bruges den valgte profil i BIOS. Kontakten kan skifte mellem den satte multiplier på CPU'en og x8 for at sikre at systemet ikke slukker eller genstarter. Det er også muligt at måle præcise spændinger, og sidst men ikke mindst et LED display der viser hvad der sker under opstart af systemet så det er nemmere at komme eventuelle fejl til livs.
Bundkortet har også fået 4 kontakter der kan lukke ned for forskellige PCIe porte. Det gør det meget nemmere at sammenligne ydelsen mellem 3 og 4 kort.
Ved siden af SATA portene sidder et SATA strømstik. Det leverer ekstra strøm til PCIe portene, således at selv når kortet er under høj pres fra 4 grafikkort der alle skal have strøm, vil bundkortet ikke bukke under.
Bundkortet har en indbygget audio forstærker til headset stikket i fronten af kabinettet, eller den grønne mini-jack udgang ved I/O pladsen.
Med bundkortet medfølger et WiFi/BlueTooth udvidelseskort der understøtter den nyeste AC WiFi protokol samt BlueTooth 4.0.
Bundkortet har fået en opgraderet strømforsyning til CPU'en. Dette er gjort med International Rectifier PowIRstage IR3550 IC'er der kan levere op til hele 60A til CPU'en.
Bundkortet har fået et ESD filter til hver USB og LAN port der beskytter bundkortet mod elektrostatisk elektricitet der nemt kan dræbe et bundkort. Portene kan endda modstå i lynnedslag.
Gigabyte har smidt guld i CPU soklens pins. Dette betyder en bedre kontakt mellem CPU og sokkel, hvilket sikrer bedre stabilitet.
Bundkortet har fået 2 kobber lag, hvilket hjælper med at sprede varmen fra komponenter ud i hele bundkortet og får kølet bundkortet mere effektivt.
Hver USB port har fået en individuel sikring, hvor man normalt vil have en sikring per USB cluster, som ofte er 2 eller 4. Hvis en sikring springer, så er det altså kun en USB port der ikke længere virker, mod 2 eller 4.
Gigabyte kalder dette "On/Off charge", og dette giver mulighed for at oplade sin iPhone, iPad eller iPod via USB portene selvom at systemet er slukket helt. Det er med andre ord en USB port med konstant arbejdsspænding på.
