Konklusion
Ydelse - 4

hereUK summary
Once again MSI has delivered the goods, with a flying fast GeForce GTX280. The card is factory overclocked considerably, giving a gain in performance, at approximately 10%. This is quite impressive, especially compared to what factory overclocks usually gives in performance gain. This also makes this card the fastest GTX280-based graphics card on the market in Denmark. However, we are writing January 2009 in the calendar - six years after nVidia launching the GTX280, and also after the launch of AMD's Radeon HD4870X2 - and nVidias own GTX295, which still has not landed on store shelves yet. Had we reviewed the card 4-5 months ago, it had been an exeptional fast card. Now it's "just" the fastest single-GPU graphics card, which though remains something of an achievement.
Innovation/Technology - 3
Basically, this card is not very innovative. It is positive that it supports HybridPower, 512bit memory, 3-way SLi, PhysX and video in high performance, something the 9800GTX also supports. We must not forget the CUDA-technology, which can be a very important factor for nVidia - but only in long terms, if developers will adopt the technology. It surely would be nice, to be able to use your graphics gard for more than just graphics - videoconverting for example. We also like the ability of “shutting down” parts of the chip to save power in idle mode. There is a lack of HD sound through HDMI and we really miss an integrated DisplayPort.
Furthermore, we write in calendar 2009, shortly after the launch of AMD's flagship HD4870X2 while GeForce GTX295 - 2 GT200b GPU - has just been launched. GTX280 is In other words, not state of the art anymore.
Bundle/Accessories - 4
No steak without garniture, has to be the motto of MSI. The bundle chosen is quite reasonable composed. There are cables, adapters, game and software - way to go. A small power adapter would have been nice though. I have seen more wicked bundles then this - but this is still quite satisfying; which is why 4 is given.
Design/Layout - 4
Nvidia's developers of cooling solutions, already was given a star by me, at the launch of the GeForce 7800GTX 512 - to cement that nVidia was taking the thermal problem seriously, particularly after the FX5800Ultra-failure. Since then, they've continued the good style, and made cooling solutions that just work. In 2D the cooler goes pretty much unnoticed. And even in 3D the fan isn't spinning that crazy. It is not dead silent - but in the relatively quiet end. Which in itself is impressive, considering the full-load power consumption of 250Watt.
Software/BIOS - 4
A 4 is given, since nVidias ForceWaredriver ofcourse works quite great. But also because MSI really tried to deliver alot of software with this card. Like file crypting, computer lock, calibrating the screen, over-/underclocking and for updating the BIOS and driver. A top grade would be too much thought, since MSI went in over their heads, and made alot of programs that are not equally usable. A piece of advise to MSI here, has to be "quality above quantity".
Performance - 4
Buttomline is, we must say that the performance is approved. MSI have managed to pull 8-10% performancegain out of the GTX280, which is alot for a factory overclocked card. This also helps making the performance very good and stable in all of our benchmarks, where the Radeon HD4870 only really have something to say in Race Driver: GRID. So it is a good raw performance, with no fuss - but there is no doubt that the throne belongs to cards like the Radeon HD4870X2 and GeForce GTX295. But when we are talking single-GPU graphics cards, the MSI N280GTX-T2D1G Super OC has the throne, along with Zotacs somewhat more expensive AMP! version.
Price - 2
Luxury you get to pay for, and MSI n280GTX T2D1G Super OC is no exception. DKK 3099,- is the price to pay, which undeniably is a nice sum of money. To put things in perspective, you can buy a standard GTX280 and almost save a "Benjamin Franklin"(100 dollars, ed.). Alternatively, you can spend 20 bucks more, and get a Radeon HD4870X2 - or additional ~200 dollars and get a GTX295 when it lands in stores, to this estimated price. Furthermore you will very soon be able to by the nye GTX285 to the same price.
On the other hand, the cards real competitor from Zotac, costs almost 100 dollars more.
