Det første der nok lige springer i øjnene er de garanterede 1.600 MHz på front-side bussen. Intel har lagt muligheden ud til producenterne, der selv måtte revidere en BIOS der kunne låse op for denne mulighed (som std.), i værste fald skulle man selv ind og sætte den rigtige frekvens. Er man overclocker, er det sådan set et stykke ret så unødvendig information.
Strømforsyningen hører måske til i den lave ende af børnebassinet (med det varme vand). Vi har jo efterhånden vænnet os til de små 400 Watt, hvor Shuttle samtidig garanterer for support af de helt store grafikkort.
Shuttle XPC SP45H7 er garanteret at kunne køre med grafikkort op til AMD's Radeon HD4870 og nVidias Geforce GTX285. Jeg vil dog ikke kunne afvise, at udskiftning til en kraftigere strømforsyning åbner muligheder for større og kraftigere grafikkort. I så fald, ville jeg nok hellere, i stedet for, overveje en Shuttle barebone der var garanteret til at kunne køre med det pågældende grafikkort du måtte ønske.
Shuttle XPC SX58H7 bør hermed få en anbefaling med på vejen, eftersom den kan tage et nVidia Geforce GTX295 - Men så er der til gengæld også smæk på drengen.
En anden ting er support for op til 16 GB RAM. Noget jeg personligt synes er rigtig lækkert. Efterhånden som jeg fordyber mig mere og mere i Adobe CS4 pakken, har jeg indset, af 64 bit er undervurderet. Selvfølgelig er en Shuttle barebone, oplagt som LAN-boks. Men som en klædelig workstation, er den skam heller ikke af vejen. En række kvindelige bekendtskaber har, gang på gang, påpeget, at skulle de have en stationær computer - ville de have en Shuttle.
Vi kan også se, på en lang række produkter, at der er ved at komme flere kvinder til teknikken. Flere og flere produkter lanceres ikke alene med tekniske specifikationer i øjemed men ligeledes et harmonisk eller stilet design. Om man kan lide Shuttle eller ej, så synes jeg at det er fedt, at man nu kan få det bedste fra begge verdener. Hidtil har man oftet måtte gå på kompromis, da en sådanne række produkter ofte koster kassen (*host* Apple Mac *host*), og de fleste derfor vælger "det næstbedste".

**) Dynamic Overclocking Technology (D.O.C.)
This is the overclocking function in the BIOS Setup, which is designed to detect the load balance of CPU while running programs, and to adjust the best CPU frequency automatically. When the mainboard detects CPU is running programs, it will speed up CPU automatically to make the program run smoothly and faster. When the CPU is temporarily suspending or staying in the low load balance, it will restore the default settings instead.
***) Dynamic Energy Saving (D.E.S.)
The Dynamic Energy Saving (D.E.S.) technology helps to improve power efficiency significantly and reduces heat inside the case. A special chip monitors the CPU load by the CPU's Power State Indicator (PSI) signal and switches on/off 3 out of 4 of the MOS power phases depending on stress and load of the system. This hardware-based technology helps to eliminate wasted energy. Lower power consumption also means less noise from cooling systems as a consequence. |
