Gigabytes 3D Power strømforsyning til CPU, GPU, VTT og DRAM er nu blevet helt digital.
Gigabyte's 3D BIOS er en UEFI BIOS, der tilbyder et mere grafisk interface end den blå Award BIOS de fleste af os har stiftet bekendskab med.
De fleste kender måske Gigabyte's Ultra Durable 3/4, men med deres nye Z77 serie er de kommet en version højere, så i dag hedder det Ultra Durable 5. Gigabyte har, udover at have et dobbelt kobberlag inde i printpladen, også bygget det op på en helt anden måde, der sikrer systemet meget mere imod fugt. Udover dette er der også kommet bedre beskyttelse imod strømudslag. Bundkortet her har desuden fået en strømstyring der kan levere hele 60A til CPU'en.
Med sin sokkel C606 har bundkortet understøttelse for Intel's Xeon CPU serie lavet til serverbrug. De understøttede CPU'er er E5 2600 og E5 1600. Alle 8 kerner i disse server CPU'er kan der derfor gøres brug af, hvilket kan give en rigtig voldsom multitaskingmaskine.
Bundkortet har fået hele 8 SAS porte. Disse porte bliver oftest brugt i lagringsservere der både skal have datasikkerhed, hurtig tilgang til data og masser af plads. Portene bruger PCIe baner til at kommunikere med.
Montere du en Xeon E5 2600 eller en Xeon E5 1600 CPU i bundkortet, er der understøttelse for ECC RAM. Disse RAM ser man oftest køre 1333Mhz i DDR3 udgaven. Disse RAM kan dog køre videre selvom de har en defekt. Dataen bliver ledt udenom defekten og din server kan derfor fortsætte med at køre.
Uanset hvilket CPU du vælger at smide i bundkortet vil chipsettet give mulighed for 4 kanals RAM. Dette giver en helt vildt stor RAM båndbredde.
Med ultra-high 32GB/s båndbredde introduceres nu PCI-E 3.0, der er næste generation PCI Express standard. Der er tale om endnu en fordobling af datamængden, du kan presse igennem soklen og dermed er der åbent for udvikling af endnu hurtigere grafikkort i fremtiden. Den nye standard er naturligvis bagudkompatibel med PCI-E 1.0 og 2.0.
Bundkortet har understøttelse for op til hele 3 grafikkort.
Bundkortet har fået 2 BIOS, hvor det er muligt at skifte mellem dem på bagpanelet. Dette er godt hvis den ene skulle stå af, så har man altid en ekstra.
I kassen følger der et kombineret wifi og bluetooth modul med. Dette har understøttelse for den nyeste wifi specifikationer og kan overføre data via wifi med op til 300Mbps.
Gigabyte kalder dette "On/Off charge", og dette giver mulighed for at oplade sin iPhone, iPad eller iPod via USB portene selvom at systemet er slukket helt. Det er med andre ord en USB port med konstant arbejdsspænding på.
