Test: Seagate Backup PLUS Portable 1TB

Konklusion

Seagate forstår at lave harddiske, og det er der ingen der kan tage fra dem. En superhurtig 2,5" harddisk kombineret med USB 3.0 interface er et fremragende drev at tage backup på, og det er præcis hvad Backup Plus Slim serien står for. Den store nyhed er Seagates Dashboard software, der er blevet udvidet til også at omfatte sociale medier og mobiltelefoner. I disse tider hvor snart sagt alle mennesker har en sådan på sig, er det rart at kunne lave en automatisk sikkerhedskopi af de billeder og filer man slæber rundt med i lommen.

Er det innovativt at kunne tage automatisk backup af sine filer, både på PC, Facebook og lign. online medier og fra sin telefon. Ja det er ! Er det gennemført til mindste detalje i lækker stil og uden bøvl ? Njaaarh ... ikke helt. Din PC skal være tændt, og du skal være logget på Dashboard for at filerne kan finde vej til disken. Du kan bruge Cloud service som mellemstation for dine filer når du er på farten, så man er dækket ind. Men der mangler lige det sidste hvis det skal være B&O lækkert.

Ydelse - 4
Ros skal der lyde for hastigheden på drevet. Hele min 26,8 GB store brugermappe i Windows blev sikkerhedskopieret på under 6½ minut. Det kan jeg godt leve med, og det er hurtigere end min NAS kan gøre det over ethernet. Det fungerer også fint med Facebook og kopiering af filer til og fra ens konto, men jeg bryder mig absolut ikke om den funktion, der anmoder om at Seagate Dashbord vil have lov til at lægge indhold online i ens navn. Hastigheden når du laver backup af din telefon afhænger naturligvis af både dit netværk og hvor hurtigt netkortet i telefonen er. Det er muligt at lave tidsstyring på alle backupfunktioner, så du eksempelvis lader din telefon sikkerhedskopiere om natten, men husk at PC'en skal være tændt. Du kan naturligvis også bruge drevet som almindelig ekstern harddisk.

Du skal slippe små 549 kr. for denne harddisk på 1 TB. Det er en forholdsvis lille pris at betale for at have en sikkerhedskopi af sine filer fra både PC, sociale medier og smartphone.

A superfast 2,5" harddrive combined with a USB 3.0 interface is a great drive for backing up your system, and that is exactly what the Backup Slim series is all about. The big news is Seagates Dashboard software, now extended to include social medias and smartphones. In this day and age where most people are equipped with a phone and an online account, it is a great feature to be able to make a copy of all ones files, and not exclusively the PC:

Is it innovative to be able to backup your files from your PC, Facebook ao. online accounts and your smartphone. Absolutely ! Is this solution smooth and intuitive to the finest detail with no hassle. Nnnnno... not quite. Your PC must be switched on in order for the files to reach the drive, and you must be logged on to the Dashboard software. You can use a Cloud service as a solution when you are away from home, and then copy the files when you return, so one is alwys covered. I still believe we need more seemless functionality if you want B&O style and comfort.

Performance - 4
Big plus for the drivespeed. It is really fast. My entire Windows user library of 26,8 GB was copied in just 6½ minutes. I can live with that, and it it is faster than my NAS is capable of over Gigabit ethernet. The Facebook functionality works fine copying files to and from your account, but I absolutely dislike any program that wants to upload content in my name  ! - that is a big nono. The speed when doing a backup of your phone will depend on your network and the speed of the Wi-Fi adapter in your phone. It is posible to set the time for all backup functions, ie. you can do a complete backup of all your systems, smartphones and social network content over night if the PC is on. You can of course also use the Backup Slim as a simle external harddrive.

Price - 3
The pricetag is 549 kr. for this 1 TB drive. A small price to pay for the ability to make a copy of all your files from PC, social networks and your smartphone.
