X2 3800+ er AMDs low cost bud på en dualcore CPU og den skuffer bestemt ikke. Der er stadig ikke så mange applikationer, der understøtter dualcores endnu, men det begynder så småt. Det der er værd at overveje er så, om man vil betale merprisen for den ekstra ydelse eller vente. Der skal trods alt bruges et antal kr. der svarer til det dobbelt af hvad den tilsvarende singlecore model, 3200+, koster.
Innovation/Teknologi: 3 - Innovationsværdien i X2 CPU'erne er efterhånden ved at være i den lave ende efter introduktionen af dualcores. Bortset fra AMD kontinuere fejlretning og forbedringer efter hver ny revision er der ikke meget nyt at hente. Til gengæld er det den bedste teknologi på markedet - alle eksperterne er enige i, at AMD har klaret springet til dualcore langt bedre end Intel. Om dette holder stik med Intels Core Duo skal vi snart kunne finde ud af, da det ikke varer mange dage før disse bliver lukket ud på markedet.
Ydelse: 4 - Ingen tvivl om at ydelse i multi threadede applikationer og multitasking er en klar vinder, men dualcore har lille eller ingen effekt i single threadede applikationer. At det er den mindste dualcore model skinner selvfølgelig også igennem, men overall et ganske godt indtryk og oveni det et formidabelt overclocking potentiale.
Pris: 3 - FX-60 kunne efterlade de fleste af os ruinerede, men situationen er heldigvis en anden med X2 3800+. Til 2.500 kr. kan man bytte sig til 3 stk. X2 3800+ plus det løse for en FX-60, så det er klart en forbedring i forhold til FX-60. Til gengæld har AMD valgt en ret hård prisstrategi mht. dualcores, hvor disse koster i omegnen af det dobbelt af singlecore modstykket. Dette er langt fra strategien Intel har valgt, så selv om X2 3800+ har en ganske fornuftig pris, må AMD kigge langt efter topscoren.

What's to consider is if one wants to pay the extra price for the extra performance or wait. The 3800+ does, after all, cost the double of its singlecore analogy, the 3200+.
Innovation/Technology: 3 - The innovative aspect in the X2 CPUs is beginning to wear out after the introduction of dualcores. There's few new aspects except AMD's continuously improvements and error correction with each new revision. The technology is, however, the best in the market - all the experts agree that AMD migrated to dualcore far mor successful than Intel. We will soon find out if this still holds true, when Intel releases the Core Duo to the end users.
Performance: 4 - There can be no doubt about the fact, that the multithreaded and multitasking performance of the FX-60 is unrivalled, but dualcore has little or no effect in singlethreaded applications. It is also clear that it is the slowest of the dualcores, but the overall impression is good and on top of that the overclocking potential is formidable.
Price: 3 - The FX-60 would leave most of os ruined, but luckily the situation is another with the X2 3800+. At a price of 301 USD (~2500 kr. In Danish markets) one can trade in at least 3 X2 3800+ for one FX-60 and this is undoubtedly an improvement compared to the FX-60. On the other hand AMD choose a hard pricing strategy with regard to the dualcores, whereas these cost roughly the double of their singlecore equals. This is far from the strategy Intel choose and so X2 3800+ may be priced quite reasonably, but there's still a long way to go for AMD if they want the top score.
