During a few weeks of testing the LIFX+ I am really impressed on many levels. Putting aside a few minor problems here and there, which was probably due to my own impatience, the LIFX+ have worked flawlessly. It have a lot more levers to adjust than its low cost rival from IKEA, and I actually do like the interface a bit more than even Phillips Hue.

The great thing about smart lights from LIFX is the fact that they do not require a bridge to connect to the app, and the possibilities for customization are abundant. The built in infrared lighting for improving the nightvision of your home surveillance is what gets us all the way to the top.

Its curious shape with the flat top actually makes for a good looking bulb, which I guess is a good thing. The light is however dispersed a bit less than a traditional bulb, which can be both good and bad.

The app provides a ton of ways to customize the bulb, and the interface is really good. The Day&Dusk feature is not that great, but otherwise I really like the app.

LIFX+ is bright, the colours look great and there is a serious amount of nuances to choose from. Setting up the lights is pretty straightforward, and the bulb reacts pretty much instantly when you change colours or brightness in the app. to get the most out of the infrared feature, I could have wished for a wider spread of the light though.

If you truly want a smart home, and have some home surveillance as well, LIFX+ is definitely worth a second look. But you will need to dig deep - almost 700 DKK for a single bulb, which is far more than any competitor, including the LIFX light without nightvision.
