ASUS har i løbet af de sidste mange år, formået at blive et stærkt brand. Blandt entusiaster er ASUS klart et af de mest anerkendte mærker, da deres bundkort, ofte har et godt overclocking potentiale. Som ASUS selv siger, er deres opskrift på succes ”Kvalitet, hastighed, innovation, service og pris”.
I 2006 solgte ASUS 55 millioner bundkort, 3 millioner mere end det forgangne år, hvilket indebærer at hver 3. stationære computer dette år, var udstyret med et bundkort fra ASUS. Yderligere er hver 4. desktopcomputer i dag udstyret med et bundkort fra dem – og det siger ikke så lidt om deres størrelse.
Det Taiwanske firma har afdelinger over det meste af verden; lige fra Kina til Holland, Tyskland og USA, hvor de beskæftiger omkring 100.000 mennesker(!).
Ifølge ASUS selv, vandt firmaet 2168 awards i 2006, hvoraf 9 af disse var tildelt af Hardware-Test. På Tomshardware løb ASUS da også med prisen, for bedste producent af bundkort og grafikkort.
Produktet vi skal kigge på i dag er et highend bundkort. Bundkortet er bygget til AMD's AM2+ processorer, og er da også baseret på selv samme firmas nyeste chipset, AMD 790FX. Grundet AMD's udbud af processorer pt. mangler gennemslagskraft, er der ikke det største udvalg af highend bundkort med dette nye chipset - i hvert fald ikke her i landet. ASUS, MSI og Gigabyte er altså de eneste spillere i skrivende stund; hvilket giver ASUS en udmærket mulighed for, at imponere. Lad os tage et kig på kortets specifikationer...

- 550 Watt or greater power supply with two 2x3-pin PCIe® power connectors required (750 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for dual ATI CrossFireX™) .
- For enhanced performance with ATI Overdrive™, a power supply with one 2x3-pin and one 2x4-pin PCIe® power connector is required.
