Konklusion
UK Summary
Innovation / Technology - Very impressive that Intel have managed to release such a huge amount of exciting new products this year. Production is working at full speed, and the yields are good enough to provide us with two generations of Core cpus in just 5 months. One might argue how innovative it really is to cram two excisting cores into one to make a quadcore. On the other hand the name Dual DualCore does sound a bit ridiculous, but that is in fact what QX6700 is. I give it 5 points for being the first.
Performance - Without any doubt this is the most powerful multitasking cpu we have seen to date. You can just keep throwing work at it and it will keep going without delay. The QX6700 is a true workhorse, and if you are the type of user who keeps a constant 8-10 programmes running at any time, quadcore is for you. If you are the more moderate user who keeps an eye on all current processes running, less is adequate. When it comes to 3D games there is a small gain due to the excessive amount of "brainpower", but if we look at percentages it is still in the very low end compared to a standard Core 2 Duo. It will probably take a while before games can start utilizing 4 cores. The overclock potential is not in the range of an E-model, but this was expected. Around 3.5GHz is within reach with our current setup, adding an extra 800MHz. 5 points.
Price - Oh well. If you want top of the line hardware you need big backpockets to hold the money. The pricetag is not official yet, but we expect to see pricing like the current X6800 around 1000_. 1 point.
