Konklusion
Ydelse - 5

hereUK summary
Since I use a SSD in my daily system, I must say that I, despite the performance benefit, am a little impressed by the Patriot Warp V2. Price is clearly the most important parameter here and based on performance I therefore think, that it looks as a quite good choice. It is equally easy to defend investing in two 64GB SSD's which together will set you back about the same amount of money as an Intel Solid State Disk - while having 50% more space and a significantly higher overall speed.
Should you feel tempted, yet think the price is a bit too much, then the Patriot Warp V2 is also available in both 32GB and 128GB versions. The smaller one will set you back about DKK 700,- and the big unit can be obtained for around DKK 2800,- Of course Solid State drives have a significantly higher cost per MB compared to traditional hard drives, but conversely an SSD isn't bought for storage space. Here speed counts above all else.
Innovation / Technology - 4
Overall development of Solid State drives is really happening at an increasing rate these days. With each generation the durability and life cycle enhances a little more. Warp V2 is the third generation, and provides significantly better performance than previous versions and especially traditional hard drives. A thing which for me pulls down the score is, that Patriot has chosen to make the casing in metal rather than plastic, which probably would have been better suited in terms of a better longivity and not nearly as prone to scratches.
Design / Layout - 3
There are not really that many things to say about the design of this Patriot SSD. Quite generally manufacturers tend to adorn their smaller storage units with a small box and add a few stickers. The drive is slightly higher than the reference model from Intel and has a not all smooth surface. While there is nothing truly negative to mention, there is also nothing positive to highlight here. It should be noted though, that the drive is 2.5" so you need a mount of some sort in order to place it in a 3.5" slot. There are however no vibration or mechanical noise.
Performance - 5
If we take an isolated look at the performance of a single SSD, I think it might merit a score of 4, because I know it performance-wise ranks higher than similar drives from OCZ and Samsung. What, from my point of view, pulls the score up to the maximum is, that the price allows you to throw two Patriot SSD's in a RAID configuration and still be above the performance level of an Intel X25-M. The only thing I can imagine which could beat that speed is two Intel Solid State disks in a similar setup - but the price would then also be totally crazy. The device is not hot at all, not even after 4 hours of intense gaming, so no need to place it near the airflow inside your case.
Price - 4
At the time of writing this review, a 64GB Patriot Warp V2 is to be had at just under DKK 1400,- and I think this is actually a very nice price - both as single entity and if you feel tempted to run a RAID setup. Held up against the reference drive from Intel, which recently saw a price deduction and now is available at DKK 2900,- the Patriot V2 offers great price. And it makes good sense to use two 64GB SSD's in a RAID configuration.
