Konklusion
Innovation/Teknologi - 4
Design/Layout - 3
Conclusion/UK Summary
Edimax 3G 6210n has been a nice experience, and can definately be recommended for people who have Mobile Broadband via. the 3G network and would like to share it on multiple computers. It is small, stable, and can, with its fine wireless range, even replace a standard wireless router in smaller households, where LAN isn't used, or using Mobile Broadband and one LAN port. Let us summarize in the respective categories.
Innovation / Technology - 4
The router has everything expected of it, such as integrated firewall and WPA2 encryption. Furthermore it sports both xDSL and 3G so that it can be used as an ordinary "desktop" router, as well as a mobile router. For being so small a unit as it is pretty impressive, that it supports these things, along with 802.11n with a theoretical transfer rate of up to 150 Mbit. I don't think it's a wireless revolution, but when we take the size into consideration, I think that it's impressive what Edimax have managed to pack a punch in such a small package.
Bundle / Accessories - 3
What do you really expect to get bundled with a router? There's a CD, manual, power supply and miscellaneous small items, which is commenly expected. It could have been conveniant to bundle a small bag to the router, since the whole idea is that it is a mobile product, which literally can give some scratches in the paintwork. We therefore have to give a middle grade here.
Design / Layout - 3
The design is nice, neat - and most importantly, compact. The necessity to add an external modem in the device itself does not, however, makes the design more beautiful nor more practical. Edimax doesn't win a design prize this time.
Software / BIOS - 4
Design wise, the router's web interface isn't the world's most beautiful - but it works just fine, and it takes no more than a minute to set up the router. And then you can not really ask for much more, can you?
Performance - 4
The router delivers a fine and stable Internet connection, and impresses with its wireless range. So good that an entire household often can hang on to it - and it is pretty impressive with such a small unit, I think. Furthermore, With W-LAN at up to 150 Mbit one is guaranteed a reasonable speed at wireless connection. Battery life of 1 ½ hours, could be better but is acceptable. Boot time of two minutes as well.
Price - 4
600,- DKK is the price of a little box of tricks - and it is actually a very reasonable price, in my opinion. It is very difficult to even to find some competitors to the router, but the ordinary routers supporting 3G USB modems, without 802.11n, was priced at about the same. And if you want a mobile router with integrated 3G module, you have to pay nearly the double.
