Test: Asrock Z87 Extreme11/ac bundkort

Konklusion

Det er ikke mange Workstation/server bundkort vi får på HwT, så det er lidt svært at sætte det op imod noget. Testen kørte som den normalt gør når jeg tester bundkort. Og man føler ikke at man sidder ved et workstation/server bundkort, medmindre man udnytter funktionerne det har naturligvis, og dem er der rigtig rigtig mange af.

Innovation/Teknologi - 5
ASRock har effektivt smidt et LSI MegaRAID PCIe kort på bundkortet og integreret det. Det betyder at det ikke vil fylde en PCI plads og der er plads til 4 grafikkort. Controlleren har samme hastighed som hvis man monterede en LSI MegaRAID controller, så der kan vi kun give en tommel op.

Bundle/Tilbehør - 5
Med i pakken er der alt hvad man kunne forestille sig skulle følge med et bundkort som dette, og mere til. De mange SATA kabler gør at man nemt og hurtigt kan lave et stort RAID array igennem LSI RAID controlleren, og der medfølger dokumentation til alt hardware og software.

Design/Layout - 5
Jeg ved ærlig talt ikke hvor jeg skal sætte en finder på noget. Bundkortet er proppet med funktioner og chips, og alt synes at være placeret ganske fornuftigt. De mange chips og controllere vil dog have en mindre indvirkning på ydelsen. CPU'en skal holde styr på de mange chips hvilket i sidste ende giver forbrugeren lidt mindre ydelse, men det er meget lidt.

Software/BIOS - 5
BIOS'en synes jeg er rigtig god at navigere rundt i, og man kan også få lidt stjernekiggeri med i oplevelsen. Desuden synes jeg rigtig godt om den medfølgende software, der giver mulighed for at overclocke systemet samt lave en ubegrænset RAMDisk.

Ydelse - 4
Her vælger jeg at give et 4 tal. De mange chips ser ud til at trække lidt ned på ydelsen. Men med et overclock tager jeg af det værste, og jeg tror ikke at man vil kunne mærke forskellen om bundkortet har alle disse chips eller ej, men det kan måles.

Pris - 4
Skal man ud at have fat i en LSI MegaRAID controller som der er monteret på bundkortet, med dens cache og expander, så starter priserne ved cirka 2.000kr. Det efterlader 1553.- kr. til resten af bundkortet, hvilket må siges at være en ekstrem god pris. Jeg kender ikke til mange Z87 bundkort med en PLX chip til den pris, og her får du endda også et AC WiFi kort og et BlueTooth 4.0 modul med i købet. En rigtig god pris til dem der vil bygge sig et system med et større RAID array.

UK summary

It¨s not that many workstation/server motherboards we get on Hwt.dk, so it´s a little difficult to compare against anything. The test ran as it usual does when I am testing motherboards. And you don´t feel like sitting on a workstation/server board, unless you of course uses the possibilities it has, and those there are plenty of.  

Innovation/Technology - 5
Asrock has thrown an effective LSI MegaRAID PCIe card on the motherboard, and integrated it. That´s means that it will not occupy a PCI slot and there´s room for 4 videocards. The controller has same speed as if you mounted a LSI MegaRAID controller, so there we can only give a thumbs up. 

Bundle/Accessories - 5
Included in the package there´s all you could imagine is suppose to be included in a motherboard like this, and then some. The many SATA cables makes it easy to make a large RAID array through the LSI RAID controller, and there´s included documentation for all hardware and software. 

Design/Layout - 5
To be honest I can´t put a finger at anything. The motherboard is packed with features and chips, and it all seems to placed rather reasonably. The many chips and controllers will have a sligth effect on the performance. The CPU has to control all the chips, which in the end will provide the end consumer with a little less performance, but it´s not much. 

Software/BIOS - 5
I think that the BIOS is really easy to navigate in, and you also get a look at the stars included. In addition I really like the included software, which provides the possibility to overclock  the system and to make an unlimited RAMDisk. 

Performance - 4
Here I choose to grade 4. The many chips seems to be pulling somewhat down on the performance. But with an overclock I am taking the edge, and I don´t think that would notice the difference wether the boards has these many chips or not, but it can be measured. 

Price - 4
If you are in the marked for a LSI MegaRAID controller like the one mounted on the board, with it´s cache and expander, then the prices starts around 2000DKK. That leaves 1553 DKK for the rest of the board, which is an extremely good price. I don´t recall many Z87 boards with a PLX chip with that pricetag, and here you even get a AC WiFi card and a Bluetooth 4.0 module included. A really good price for those who want´s to build a system with a large RAID array.
