Konklusion

Med i915Pa-PLF har AOpen lavet et ganske fint bundkort til den prisbevidste bruger, som gerne vil beholde sine DDR RAM lidt endnu, men stadig nyde godt af fordelene ved PCI-Express. Det er ikke det mest imponerende bundkort hvad angår features eller bundle, men til den prisbevidste bruger er der det man skal bruge plus-minus et par småting hist og her.

I Innovation/Teknologi har jeg valgt at give kortet 2, da det er et standard kort og med nyere chipsæt som i945 og i955 ude, er der ikke meget at hente i i915 mere.

Bundle/Tilbehør får også kun et 2-tal, da det er en begrænset bundle, der følger med og kun med de mest essentielle ting.

I Design/Layout klarer AOpen sig lidt bedre med et cool sort bundkort, passiv køling og masser af plads omkring både RAM soklerne og CPU soklen. Et lille minus er ATX strømstikket, som sidder midt på bundkortet, hvor kablet godt kan komme i vejen for en CPU blæser, men alt i alt ligger scoren på et solidt 3-tal i denne kategori.

Software/BIOS er helt igennem standard - det skulle da lige være SilentTek, som giver mulighed for en udvidet blæserstyring, men i sidste ende er det nok ikke de fleste, der vil kunne drage nytte af dette. Et 2-tal for det.

Ydelsen ligger ganske solidt og forholder sig lidt bedre end konkurrenten fra Albatron og tæt ved det nyere i945 chipsæt, som ABIT benytter sig af. AOpen scorer her et 3-tal.

I den sidste kategori, som er pris, ligger AOpen sig lunt i svinget. i915 chipsættet er og bliver et budget chipsæt og med den lave pris, som tages for bundkort med dette chipsæt i dag vil jeg strække mig til at give et 4-tal for denne.

UK Conclusion

With the i915Pa-PLF AOpen has made a nice motherboard for the price-conscious user, who would like to stick with DDR memory a little while longer and still take advantage of PCI-Express. It isn't the most impressive motherboard when it comes to features or the bundle, but for the price-conscious user it is sufficient plus-minus a few things here and there.

In Innovation/Technology I have chosen to give the motherboard a 2, as it is a standard board and with never chipsets like the i945 and i955 available i915 doesn't bring much new.

The Bundle/Accessories also earn a 2, as it is a limited bundle with only the essentials.

AOpens fares a bit better in the Design/Layout with a cool black motherboard, fanless cooling and lots of space around both the memory slots and the CPU slot. The unlucky placement of the ATX plug which might interfere with the CPU fan pulls down, but overall the score lands on a solid 3 in this category.

Software/BIOS is standard all the way - maybe except for SilentTek which gives extended possibilities of fan control, but in the end most users probably won't use it. A 2 for that.

The performance is solid and a little bit better than the competition from Albatron and close to the newer i945 chipset which ABIT takes advantage of. AOpen gets a 3 in this category.

In the last category, which is price, AOpen fares quite well. The i915 chipset is a budget chipset and with the low price which is paid for motherboards with this chipset I'll stretch and give a 4 for the price.
